This airplane started life in 1931 as a Great Lakes 2T-1A "Sport Trainer".

It was originally powered by a 90hp American Cirrus inverted inline 4 cylinder engine. Much of the original exists in what is now a "Great Lakes Special"
Some of the differences from the original 2T-1A include:
Lycoming GO435 260 HP engine with an "AeroMatic" Propeller
"PJ-260" wing ribs, flying wires and adjustable "N" struts.
Increased rudder area
Modern wheels and brakes
Inverted fuel and oil systems
Electric starter, alternator, and basic avionics
